The annexation of Crimea to Russia has not yet affected the football championship. Both Simferopol and Sevastopol, the two clubs from the region, are continuing to compete in the Ukrainian championship, which has resumed after the winter break.
A spokesperson for Sevastopol confirmed that their upcoming match against Lviv will proceed as scheduled. Similarly, Simferopol, currently in 12th place in the championship, is set to play against Metalurg in Zaporizhia.
However, it’s important to note that both clubs have expressed their intention to join the Russian championship after the conclusion of the current season. Despite this, for the time being, they are still participating in the Ukrainian league.
