Noussair Mazraoui: Marcus Rashford return could be like a new signing for Man United

Noussair Mazraoui believes Marcus Rashford’s return to Manchester United could feel like the arrival of another major signing if the England forward remains at Old Trafford for the 2026-27 season.

Rashford has been back in training with Michael Carrick’s squad as speculation continues over his future, with the 28-year-old increasingly expected to stay at United and fight for his place in the team.

The forward was not involved in Wednesday’s friendly against Leeds United in Dublin after returning to training, with the club deciding it was too early for him to feature.

But his potential reintegration into the squad has been welcomed by Mazraoui, who believes Rashford can have a significant impact alongside United’s new recruits.

Speaking to ITV after United edged Leeds on penalties, the defender highlighted the quality already added to Carrick’s squad while pointing to Rashford as another potential difference-maker.

“We have made some great signings. Rashford has come back, who can also be a big one in this season, if he, of course, does not leave. That’s not up to me, of course,” he said.

United aiming high

Rashford’s future has remained one of the major talking points around United during the summer, but his return to training has raised the prospect of him becoming part of Carrick’s plans again.

Mazraoui’s comments underline the value United could gain from retaining a player who has already established himself as a key attacking figure at the club.

The Morocco international also believes the combination of Rashford’s return and United’s summer recruitment could leave the squad stronger heading into the new campaign.

“But anyways, yeah, of course, we have big signings, we made good signings, and yeah, the team is still strong and stronger. So yeah, we have to go and aim really high.”

Carrick gets attacking boost

Rashford’s availability would give Carrick another experienced option in attack as he prepares his squad for the new season.

Although his involvement against Leeds was ruled out, his return to full training suggests he could soon be considered for match action.
