Nottingham Forest, currently sitting third in the Premier League, have renewed their efforts to sign DR Congo striker Yoane Wissa from Brentford.
After having a £15 million offer turned down in the summer, Forest have returned with an improved bid of nearly £22 million for the 28-year-old forward.
Despite the increased offer, Brentford are expected to reject the bid outright, as the club is reluctant to part ways with Wissa. The striker remains under contract until 2026, with an option to extend for another year.
Wissa joined Brentford in August 2021 from French side Lorient and has since made a significant impact, scoring 41 goals and providing nine assists in 133 appearances for the Bees.
This season, Wissa has been in exceptional form, netting 11 goals in 19 Premier League matches.
Only a select group of players, including Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Chris Wood, and teammate Bryan Mbeumo, have scored more in the 2024/25 campaign.
The DR Congo international has also cemented his place in Brentford’s history by becoming the club’s top Premier League scorer.
His 37th league goal scored during the recent 2-2 draw with Manchester City, saw him surpass Ivan Toney’s record.
