English Premier League side Nottingham Forest is reportedly eyeing a move to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford in the January transfer window, aiming to bolster their squad in pursuit of UEFA Champions League qualification.
The DR Congo international has attracted significant interest, but Brentford has placed a high valuation on Wissa, rejecting Nottingham Forest’s reported £22 million offer. Despite Wissa having just 18 months left on his contract, the Bees remain firm in their stance and are unwilling to entertain bids that do not meet their expectations.
Wissa, 28, has been in outstanding form this season, netting 11 goals in 19 Premier League appearances. Since joining Brentford in 2021, he has cemented his status as a key player and recently surpassed Ivan Toney as the club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer with 37 goals.
For Nottingham Forest, the pursuit of Wissa highlights their determination to reinforce a squad that has exceeded expectations this season.
While Chris Wood has been instrumental with 14 Premier League goals, Forest is eager to add depth and quality to sustain their European ambitions.
Although the interest is there, experts say it will be very difficult for Forest to successfully poach Wissa this month.
