Nottingham Forest eye move for Belgium-Morocco striker Loïs Openda from Leipzig

Belgium-Morocco centre-forward Loïs Openda, who currently plays for Juventus but is still officially listed in transfer records as moving from RB Leipzig, is being linked with a summer switch to Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Reports in Germany and England suggest Forest are exploring a deal with Leipzig for the 26-year-old, whose market value is estimated at €25.00m on Transfermarkt. The rumour, logged on 4 June 2026 with a probability rating of “?”, underlines that talks are at an early and speculative stage, with no agreement in place.

Openda, born in Liège on 16 February 2000 and standing at 1.77m, is a right-footed centre-forward who represents both Belgian and Moroccan heritage. He made his name in the Bundesliga with Leipzig before his move to Juventus, and any transfer will have to take into account the complex picture of his current registration and contractual situation, which has not been publicly disclosed. There is currently no indication that his contract has expired or that he is close to becoming a free agent.

The striker’s most recent campaign with Leipzig in the Bundesliga, prior to his Juventus spell, reinforced his reputation as a direct, pacey attacker capable of running in behind defences. In one notable late-season outing, he featured in a high-tempo league match for Leipzig against a fellow top-half side, contributing with his trademark movement and work-rate in a narrow scoreline decided in the final quarter of an hour, though he did not get on the scoresheet.

Forest, who have worked with a range of forwards in recent seasons, are understood to be monitoring the financial parameters closely, aware that any deal near his €25.00m valuation would represent a major outlay.

If a move does materialise, a switch from Leipzig’s structure via Juventus to a leading role at Nottingham Forest could provide Openda with a fresh platform in the Premier League and a significant new chapter in his career trajectory.
