Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans has raised uncertainty about his long-term commitment to the club following their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
The 28-year-old Belgian international of Congolese descent expressed frustration at missing out on Europe’s elite competition despite his strong individual campaign.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Tielemans offered a mixed assessment of his situation: “I feel good at Villa. I feel a lot of confidence from the club and the coach.”
The midfielder highlighted his consistent performances this season, stating, “I was constantly at a very high level and was very involved in Villa’s game. I have made progress in all areas.”
However, when pressed about potential transfer interest, Tielemans left the door open for a possible departure: “Does that make me think about a transfer?
“Nothing is ruled out, but I am not really thinking about that.” He quickly tempered those comments by reiterating his comfort at Villa Park: “I am doing well at Villa. I feel a lot of confidence from the club and the coach.”
The former Leicester City star’s comments come after Villa narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification, finishing sixth in the Premier League.
Tielemans’ impressive form this season has seen him regain his status as one of the division’s most complete midfielders, making his future a subject of growing speculation.
