Arsenal have taken a big step in their pursuit of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke by reaching an agreement on personal terms, according to trusted journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.
While a formal approach is yet to be made to Chelsea, the Gunners appear confident of landing the winger. Sources suggest Arsenal may be waiting for Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign to conclude, the Blues face Brazilian side Fluminense in the semi-final.
Madueke, known for his speed and sharp footwork, is highly rated by Mikel Arteta for his ability to play on either wing. His strong passing and one-on-one dribbling make him a perfect fit for Arsenal’s fluid attacking style. Arteta is also reportedly keen on adding Madueke to boost the squad’s creativity ahead of the new Premier League season.
“The Gunners are going all out for Madueke because he can play on both wings,” Ornstein reported, adding that the club sees him as a game-changer.
Chelsea and Arsenal have a strong working relationship, which could ease negotiations. The expected transfer fee lies between £40 million and £45 million.
