Noel Futkeu: Werder Bremen eye move for Frankfurt and 2. Bundesliga goal king

Germany-Cameroon forward Noel Futkeu of Eintracht Frankfurt is being linked with a move to Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen as the striker’s future comes under early scrutiny. The 23-year-old centre-forward, who only joined Frankfurt on 1 July 2026, is rated as having around a 30% chance of making the switch, with his current market value standing at about €7.5 million.

Futkeu heads into his first top-flight campaign on the back of a standout season in the 2. Bundesliga, where he finished as the division’s top goalscorer in 2025-26 with 19 goals. That followed an earlier prolific year in the Oberliga Niederrhein in 2022-23, when he also claimed the top scorer award after hitting 30 goals, marking him out as one of the most productive forwards outside the top tier in recent seasons.

Born in Essen and standing at 1.83m, the right-footed attacker is seen as a potential addition to Bremen’s attacking options as they assess ways to add goals from the centre-forward position. Any deal would likely require Frankfurt to make a quick decision just weeks after bringing him in, given his recent scoring record and upward valuation.

Futkeu has yet to settle fully into his new surroundings at Frankfurt, and there is no fixed end date publicly known for his current contract, leaving scope for negotiations if Bremen choose to firm up their interest later in the window.
