Noel Futkeu closes in on Eintracht Frankfurt exit with SV Elversberg move

Noel Futkeu is nearing a move from Eintracht Frankfurt to SV Elversberg after the two clubs reached a verbal agreement for the 23-year-old striker, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The German-Cameroonian forward is expected to join the newly promoted Bundesliga club on loan, with an option for SV Elversberg to buy him permanently. Personal terms between Futkeu and his prospective new club have also been agreed.

The transfer is not yet complete, however. Futkeu must first pass a medical before the deal can be formally confirmed.

Born in Essen, Futkeu plays as a centre-forward and joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 after an especially productive campaign with Schwarz-Weiß Essen. He subsequently impressed for Frankfurt’s reserve side, scoring 16 goals in 27 appearances.

His development continued during two seasons with Greuther Furth, where he established himself as one of the leading strikers in Bundesliga 2. Futkeu finished as the division’s top scorer in 2025/26 after finding the net 19 times.

That form increased his profile in the transfer market, as previously reported exclusively by Africafoot. Eintracht Frankfurt responded by activating a €1.3m buy-back clause to bring the striker back to the club.

Futkeu’s proposed move to SV Elversberg would give the forward the opportunity to take on a more prominent role after helping Greuther Furth in the second tier. The club, now preparing for life in Germany’s top division, see his attacking potential as a way to strengthen their squad.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, the agreement would provide a route for Futkeu to continue his development while remaining under the club’s control if the purchase option is not exercised. The move is expected to be announced once the medical examination has been completed.
