Noah Atubolu skips SC Freiburg training camp as Premier League move comes closer

Noah Atubolu’s departure from SC Freiburg is moving closer, with the goalkeeper set to remain in Germany instead of joining the club’s training camp in Schruns, Austria.

According to Bild, the 24‑year‑old asked Freiburg to let him stay in the city while his entourage continues talks over a possible transfer.

The decision was made jointly by player and club. By keeping Atubolu out of the training camp, Freiburg aim to reduce the risk of injury while negotiations are ongoing and a deal edges nearer. Even at the start of pre‑season, Atubolu was already training individually and separately from the main squad, another clear sign of an impending change.

England remains the likeliest destination. Bild reports that Atubolu has already turned down newly promoted Premier League sides Hull City and Coventry City, preferring a move to a club with higher sporting ambitions on the island.

Aston Villa, who recently signed his Freiburg teammate Johan Manzambi, and Bournemouth have both been mentioned as interested teams, while Juventus have also inquired about his situation. Even so, the tendency is clear: Atubolu’s dream is the Premier League, and those close to him expect his future to be resolved before the end of the month.
