In a dramatic turn of an event, the Egyptian Clubs Association has voted to cancel relegation for the 2024/2025 Premier League season following a crucial meeting on Monday morning.

The decision comes amid mounting pressure from struggling clubs in the top-flight, citing fixture congestion and exceptional circumstances impacting the league’s competitive balance.

Clubs currently in the relegation drop can heave a sigh of relief following recent development. However, Ismaily and Ghazl El Mahalla appears to be immediate beneficiaries of the ruling considering their position on the league standings with few matches to end the campaign.

To this point, any club in the relegation zone is now secured regardless of results, sparking mixed reactions across the football community.

Meanwhile, the battle for the Premier League title has intensified with Al Ahly, Pyramids and Zamalek pushing for the ultimate.

Al Ahly currently leads the table with 55 points, two ahead of Pyramids (53).A draw against Pharco in the final match will be enough to clinch a record-extending 45th league title, regardless of Pyramids’ outcome.

The Egyptian Premier League will officially conclude on 31 May, as confirmed by the Clubs Association.
