No player bigger than the club - MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena cautions players

MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has issued a cautionary message to his squad despite overseeing their most dominant performance of the season on Saturday.

Following their Algerian Cup exit at the hands of CR Belouizdad, MC Alger bounced back emphatically with a 5-0 victory over ES Mostaganem in Ligue 1.

Mokwena, formerly of Mamelodi Sundowns, addressed the media after the match, providing clarity on why Kipré Zunon was omitted from the lineup.

“Kibri is a coached option, and we can’t disclose what’s going on inside the changing rooms… But he will be back soon,” the South African said.

He continued, “There is no player bigger than the club.”

He also dedicated the win to the club’s loyal supporters, acknowledging their continued backing through recent setbacks.

“Congratulations to the team for this win. I think we played well even in the first half even though we didn’t score, but in the second half we were more decisive and the mentality of the team was excellent.

“I offer this win to all the fans who stayed behind us and supported us after the recent difficult results,” he added.

The triumph lifts MC Alger to the top of the league standings with 40 points.
