Anis Hadj Moussa will remain at Feyenoord for the rest of the season after the Dutch club closed the door on all winter transfer approaches for the highly rated Algerian winger.
The 22-year-old had been the subject of growing interest from several major European sides during the January transfer window, with Olympique de Marseille, Chelsea and Benfica all monitoring his situation.
Despite that attention, Feyenoord have made it clear that no move will be sanctioned at this stage, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his future.
The club’s general and technical director, Dennis te Kloese, confirmed that a final decision had been taken internally and that both the player and his representatives had been fully informed. Speaking about the process, he underlined that there was clarity on all sides.
“We discussed it with his agent as well as with Anis.”
Feyenoord’s stance, according to te Kloese, is driven primarily by sporting considerations rather than financial ones.
With key international deadlines approaching, the club believes continuity is essential for Hadj Moussa’s development, particularly in relation to his growing role within the Algerian national team.
“A World Cup is approaching, and Anis is progressing steadily with the national team. In this context, it would seem unwise to move to a big club playing in a difficult league.
You never know if you’ll get playing time, and that could jeopardize his participation in the World Cup.”
The comments suggest Feyenoord are keen to protect both the player’s momentum and his visibility at international level, viewing regular football as a priority over a high-profile transfer that may come with uncertainty.
The club considers Hadj Moussa’s current environment to be the most stable platform for continued growth ahead of major international competition.
At the same time, Feyenoord acknowledge the winger’s long-term ambitions and see them as aligned with the club’s own objectives.
Te Kloese stressed that the decision to block a winter move does not signal a lack of openness to future discussions, but rather reflects a carefully timed strategy.
“But it’s no secret: he has ambition, and the club benefits from that as well. It’s not for nothing that we extended his contract.”
By extending his deal, Feyenoord have strengthened their position while retaining a player who has become increasingly influential in their attacking set-up. The move also gives the club greater control over any future negotiations.
While the immediate outcome puts a definitive end to winter transfer talk, it is widely expected that Hadj Moussa’s name will resurface prominently once the summer window opens.
For now, Feyenoord’s message is unequivocal: their winger remains central to their plans, and his next step will be taken at the right moment.
