Football supporters in France hoping to follow the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) will be left disappointed, as no French broadcaster has acquired the rights to air the competition.

Unlike previous tournaments or other competitions under the Confederation of African Football (CAF), CHAN 2025 will not be shown on any major French television network.

Broadcasters such as beIN Sports, Canal+, L’Équipe, and other mainstream streaming platforms have not secured the transmission rights, leaving a significant void for fans—particularly those from the African diaspora eager to support their national teams.

The absence of an official broadcaster in France marks a notable setback for viewers who have followed African football competitions through well-established platforms in recent years.

With CHAN 2025 approaching rapidly, many supporters now face the reality of being unable to watch the tournament legally through traditional means within France.

However, alternatives are emerging. Several African national broadcasters are expected to air the tournament and may be accessible to viewers in Europe via satellite or specific streaming services.

These include RTI from Côte d’Ivoire, RTS from Senegal, and CRTV from Cameroon. International outlets such as Sport TV (Portugal), Ziggo (Netherlands), Band (Brazil), and Sports5 (Israel) are also listed among the prospective broadcasters of the event.

Still, fans are urged to exercise caution. Last-minute broadcast restrictions or geo-blocking could impact availability, making it essential for viewers to monitor official announcements from individual networks regarding access and coverage details.

In North Africa, the picture is more defined. In Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia—whose national teams have all qualified for the tournament—beIN Sports holds exclusive broadcasting rights

. This means the competition will not be shown on free-to-air public channels like ENTV in Algeria, 2M in Morocco, or Arryadia. Fans in these countries will require a paid subscription to the beIN Sports bouquet to watch the matches.

As for viewers across Francophone sub-Saharan Africa, a variety of networks will carry the tournament. The confirmed broadcasters by country include:

  • Côte d’Ivoire: RTI and Canal+
  • Cameroon: SuperSport, Canal+, Equinoxe, Canal 2, CRTV, and MSI
  • Mali: ORTM and Canal+
  • Burkina Faso: RTB, SuperSport, and Canal+
  • Senegal: RTS and Canal+
  • Democratic Republic of Congo: RTNC, SuperSport, and Canal+
  • Republic of Congo (Brazzaville): Canal+
  • Guinea: RTG and Canal+
  • Madagascar: ORTM
  • Mauritania: beIN Sports
  • Central African Republic: Canal+
  • Benin: Canal+
  • Togo: TVT and New World TV
  • Niger: Canal+
  • Angola: TPA and SuperSport

With France excluded from the list of official broadcasters, satellite television and region-specific streaming platforms now offer the most viable options for followers of the tournament based in the country.

Nonetheless, accessibility will depend on overcoming potential regional restrictions and technical limitations.

As the CHAN 2025 tournament draws near, the lack of French coverage underscores broader challenges in making African football competitions widely available to global audiences—particularly in countries with large African communities seeking connection to the continent’s vibrant sporting culture.
