No Asisat Oshoala as Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu unveil squad for pre-WAFCON friendlies
Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Justin Madugu has summoned 26-players for the upcoming pre-WAFCON friendlies against Cameroon, with striker Asisat Oshoala being the only notable absentee.
The Super Eagles are set to face the Indomitable Lioness in a double-header, as both sides ramp up preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The highly competitive clash has been scheduled to take place in Younde, the capital of Cameroon. The first leg has been scheduled for Saturday, February 28 before the return clash on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Ahead of the games, Justin Madugu has named a strong 26-players excluding former Barceola forward Asisat Oshoala.
For the first time, 16 teams will feature at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament, with Egypt, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Mali earning an invitation to partake in the tournament, having failed to secure automatic qualification.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria are the record holders of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, winning the title ten times. They won the previous edition and will be hoping to defend the title in the North African country.
