Nnamdi Collins moves closer to Eintracht Frankfurt return
Nnamdi Collins is edging closer to a return for Eintracht Frankfurt after taking part in part of team training on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old defender has been sidelined since late July with stubborn back problems, but this latest step suggests his recovery is finally moving in the right direction.
Frankfurt did not say he is fully ready yet, and that is why his availability for Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to Mainz remains uncertain. Even so, partial involvement in group work is an encouraging sign after a long spell away from regular sessions.
Collins has been one of the club’s promising defensive options, and his comeback would give the squad more depth at a busy moment in the season. He developed at Borussia Dortmund before joining Frankfurt in 2023, where he has continued to build his reputation as a young, reliable defender.
Last season, Collins made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists. That output showed he can contribute at both ends of the pitch, not just in defence.
For now, Frankfurt will continue to monitor his fitness carefully before deciding whether he can travel to Mainz.
