Marseille Update: Mendy, Nkoulou, and Barrada’s Injury Progress Ahead of Nantes Trip
Marseille’s head doctor, Christophe Baudot, provided an update on the health status of three key players—Benjamin Mendy, Nicolas Nkoulou, and Abdelaziz Barrada—on the eve of the club’s 33rd Ligue 1 matchday against Nantes.
Regarding Benjamin Mendy, who sustained a right hamstring strain during Marseille’s recent encounter with Bordeaux, Baudot confirmed that the left-back is progressing well and is expected to return to team training on Wednesday, assuming his recovery continues on track. “If all goes well, he will be back with the group soon,” said Baudot.
On Nicolas Nkoulou, the Cameroonian defender’s return from a knee injury has been smooth. “Nicolas’s return to competition went very well in Bordeaux,” Baudot reported, noting that Nkoulou has been training normally with the squad for over two weeks without discomfort. “He’s now focused on regaining match fitness through a series of official matches,” the doctor added.
As for Abdelaziz Barrada, the Algerian midfielder is making progress after a period of rehabilitation. “Abdelaziz will return to team training early next week,” Baudot explained. “We needed to give him a complete athletic preparation before bringing him back into full training. His return to competition will be discussed with the coaching staff based on how he progresses.”
With these updates, Marseille fans will be hopeful for a strong squad for the upcoming fixture as the team continues to battle in the final stretch of the season.
