Njabulo Ngcobo: South African defender linked with Siwelele FC move after Cape Town City exit
South African centre-back Njabulo Ngcobo, currently a free agent after leaving Cape Town City, is being linked with a move to Betway Premiership side Siwelele FC.
The 32-year-old defender, born in Folweni, KwaZulu-Natal, became available on 1 July 2026 following the end of his stint with the Cape Town club, and Siwelele are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to add experience to their back line ahead of the new campaign. Any move would not require a transfer fee, with Ngcobo unattached and free to negotiate.
Ngcobo only joined Cape Town City in August 2025, arriving on a free transfer from Sekhukhune. His potential switch to Siwelele would keep him in the top flight, where he has built up significant experience over several seasons. Across his time in the Betway Premiership, he has made 71 appearances, scoring twice and amassing more than 5,500 minutes of league football.
Before his short spell at Cape Town City, Ngcobo had established himself in the division with Sekhukhune and previously Kaizer Chiefs, having moved to the Soweto giants from Moroka Swallows in 2021. His earlier career also included stints with AmaZulu, Uthongathi and Richards Bay, where he progressed from reserve-team football into the professional ranks.
Ngcobo, a right-footed central defender, is currently without a club and able to join Siwelele FC outside of a traditional transfer window, leaving the Premiership side with a clear opportunity to secure his services if talks progress.
