Njabulo Blom returns to South Africa on loan to Stellenbosch FC

Njabulo Blom has returned to South Africa after joining Stellenbosch FC on a season-long loan from Indonesian Super League club Borneo Samarinda.

The midfielder was unveiled by Stellenbosch on Friday morning, with the deal completed before Monday’s PSL transfer-window deadline. The move also reunites Blom with manager Gavin Hunt, who previously worked with him at Kaizer Chiefs.

Blom said Stellenbosch’s professional structure and the quality of its squad were central to his decision to join the Winelands-based club.

“I’m excited to be here, and to start this journey in a new environment,” Blom told the club’s website.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and building relationships with my new teammates. I will do my best to help the team and see what we can achieve together.”

The 21-year-old added that the club’s record of helping players succeed made it the right place for him to resume competitive football and continue his development.

“Stellenbosch is a professional and well-run club, and players who have played here in the past have enjoyed success, so I felt that it was a good environment for me to grow and to play competitive football again,” he said.

Blom also believes working under Hunt again will help him regain his best form.

“I know Coach Gavin [Hunt] demands a lot from his players, and that will also help me improve and get back to my best.”

He is the latest former Kaizer Chiefs player in the Stellenbosch squad, joining George Matlou, Given Msimango and Ashley du Preez.

Stellenbosch currently sit seventh in the Betway Premiership table. They have recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat in their past five matches.
