Nimes Olympique sign Guinea and France goalkeeper Soumaila Sylla on loan

Nimes Olympique have signed Guinea and France goalkeeper Soumaila Sylla from Stade Reims on loan, completing a move that takes the 22-year-old from Ligue 2 to National 1 – Group C.

Sylla joined Nimes on 14 September 2026 and has a contract running until 30 June 2027. The transfer is his latest move between the two French clubs, having previously spent the 2025-26 season with Reims’ senior side after progressing from Stade Reims B.

The 1.91m goalkeeper began the 2026-27 campaign at Reims but had not made an appearance in Ligue 2 before switching clubs. He moves to Nimes with a market value of €75,000 and will provide goalkeeping cover for the club in the third tier of French football.

Sylla was born in Ivry-sur-Seine and holds Guinea and France nationality. He is right-footed and has played as a goalkeeper throughout his progression through the French football system.

His route to senior football began at Stade Reims, where he joined the club’s under-17 side from CFF Paris in July 2019. After moving through the Reims academy, he joined Stade Reims B in July 2021 before stepping up to the first team four years later.

The move to Nimes marks a return to the club for Sylla after he spent the previous campaign there before going back to Reims at the end of his loan on 30 June 2026. He now switches back to Nimes on another loan agreement, with the deal recorded as completed on 14 September.

Sylla’s arrival gives Nimes a goalkeeper who has been developed within Reims’ system and has experience of being registered with a Ligue 2 club. His immediate challenge will be to establish himself in the Nimes squad during the 2026-27 National 1 campaign.

The transfer also represents a change in level for the young goalkeeper, with Nimes competing in National 1 – Group C after his time with Reims in Ligue 2.

Soumaila Sylla has therefore completed his loan move from Stade Reims to Nimes Olympique, with his Nimes contract running until 30 June 2027.
