Junior Harrison Nduka, captain of the home-based Nigeria national team, has sent a clear message to Ghana as they prepare for the second leg of their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying match.
The first leg, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, ended in a goalless draw, setting the stage for an intense rematch at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
This encounter marks the second meeting between the two teams in the CHAN qualifiers, with Ghana having previously eliminated Nigeria through a penalty shootout in the last edition of the tournament in 2022.
“The future lies in our hands right now, we need to qualify by all means and at the same time we know we have to defend as well because the best way to defend is to attack,” he told Pan-Africa Football.
He recalled a previous encounter in Abuja, where Nigeria faced disappointment, and expressed a strong desire for revenge.
“This time, we need to deliver a similar bitter pill to Ghana,” he asserted.
With the tournament set to take place in February 2025 across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, Nigeria and Ghana are set for an intense battle for one spot.
