Nigeria’s friendlies against Iran and Jordan moved to Turkey
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face Jordan and Iran in a pair of international friendlies in Antalya, Turkey, following a change of venue from Amman, the capital of Jordan.
The relocation comes amid ongoing instability in the Middle East, which has limited the movement of people and prompted organizers to ensure a safer environment for the matches.
Nigeria will kick off their series of friendlies against Iran on Friday, 27 March, in a match that is expected to be a key test for head coach Eric Chelle.
On the same day, Jordan will meet Costa Rica, allowing both teams to evaluate tactics and integrate new players in a competitive setting.
The Super Eagles will then take on Jordan in their second fixture on Tuesday, 31 March, while Iran faces Costa Rica.
These encounters will serve as critical preparation for all four nations, allowing them to assess squad depth, experiment with formations, and build match fitness ahead of the global tournament.
For Nigeria, these friendlies are particularly important as they provide a chance to fine-tune strategies and reinforce team cohesion in a controlled environment away from the pressures of competitive qualifiers.
Jordan, Iran, and Costa Rica are similarly using the matches to finalize selections and test combinations as they gear up for the World Cup, making Antalya a hub of tactical experimentation and international football development over the course of these fixtures.
