Josef Bseiro, the coach of the Nigerian national team, offered his insights on the Egypt-Cape Verde match, stating that Egypt’s qualification against Cape Verde wasn’t an easy feat due to the numerous changes made to the Egyptian squad.
He emphasized that Egypt leaned more towards an offensive strategy than a defensive one.
During an interview on the “AFCON 2023” program, broadcasted on “Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbaryia” channel, Bseiro commented, “At times, I see that Egypt created many opportunities and can compete.
I believe Cape Verde could have conceded more chances for Egypt to score.”
He extended congratulations to the Nigerian people for the national team’s qualification for the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations, expressing the team’s ambition to reach the tournament’s final.
Bseiro conveyed his gratitude to the Nigerian players and everyone who supported the team, stating that their qualification was well-deserved.
He highlighted the team’s sufficient offensive density and striking power, emphasizing their potential to qualify and advance to the final stages of the tournament.
Regarding Victor Osimhen’s performance, Bseiro commended the player’s excellent play and dedication to the Nigerian team.
He expressed the need to provide Osimhen with more opportunities to score, hoping that the team’s effectiveness and offensive style would suit him.
Bseiro added, “We try to avoid close marking from the opponent’s defenders to create favorable opportunities for him to score.”
The Nigerian coach’s perspective not only reflects an acknowledgment of Egypt’s potential but also underlines the competitive nature of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing the respect and admiration among the participating teams.
