African duo Ademola Lookman and Ibrahim Sulemana starred for Atalanta on Monday night, powering the team to a crucial 2-1 win against AS Roma in the Italian Serie A.

The important win has guaranteed Atalanta a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The match against AS Roma serving as a Round 36 contest in Serie A started in explosive fashion with Atalanta taking the lead after just 9 minutes.

Nigerian sensation Ademola Lookman broke the deadlock of the game after Charles De Ketelaere showed great vision to locate him with a neat pass in the AS Roma area.

After going behind, AS Roma did not back down, the team continued to play their game and it paid off in the 32nd minute.

Bryan Cristante equalised to restore parity to the game as both teams went into the break on level pegging.

Ghana midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana, who did not start the game, came on in the 68th minute to replace Mario Pasalic and won the game for Atalanta.

He scored what is his first-ever goal for Atalanta in the 76th minute with a powerful long-range drive.

Despite the efforts of AS Roma, the team could not get back into the match and had to settle for a narrow defeat at full-time.
