Nigerian youngster Ahmed Abdullahi is expected to join French Ligue 1 outfit Angers in the current summer transfer window.

Angers are keen on strengthening their attacker for the 2025/26 football campaign, having lost key player Estéban Lepaul to Stade Rennais in a transfer fee worth €15m.

However, Angers have moved to make a swoop for the Nigerian international, who has struggled for first-team action at Sunderland.

The 21-year-old forward is expected to join Angers on a season-long loan as he seeks for regular playing time in the current campaign.

Aside Ahmed Abdullahi, Angers are closing in on a move for Rémy Labeau Lascary and veteran Steve Mounié, after a spell at FC Augsburg.

The Nigerian is currently under contract with the Premier League side until 2028, but has yet to feature in a league contest.

Abdullahi netted 21 goals in 21 appearances for Jong Gent in the Belgian second tier before moving the Gent in the Belgian Pro League.  He’s also earned seven caps for the Nigerian U-20 team, scoring two goals.
