Emmanuel Uchegbu, the Flying Eagles winger, has completed a transfer to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Charlotte FC from Slovakian outfit AS Trencin.
AS Trencin officially announced the move on Thursday, confirming the young Nigerian’s departure.
Nigerian winger Emmanuel Uchegbu is leaving our club at the end of the transfer window.
The twenty-year-old will continue his career in the top flight of American soccer, the MLS, where he will strengthen the Charlotte FC team,” the club stated.
Uchegbu arrived at AS Trencin in the summer of 2023, initially joining the U19 squad before making his mark in the senior team.
His strong performances earned him 30 league appearances, during which he found the net four times.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Uchegbu expressed appreciation for the opportunity and support he received.
“I am very grateful to AS Trencin for the opportunity given to me as a young player. I must express my deep gratitude to the coaches, the management team, all the employees, and finally, the fans of AS Trencin. You have been my support throughout my career. Before moving to Europe, Uchegbu played for Plateau United in Nigeria and was part of the Flying Eagles squad that competed in the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
His transition to MLS marks a pivotal step in his career as he seeks to make a lasting impact in American soccer.
