Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu on fire as top scorer in Turkey

Paul Onuachu is enjoying a brilliant season with Trabzonspor, leading the Turkish Super Lig scoring charts with 11 goals in just 15 matches.

The towering Nigerian striker has quickly become one of the most decisive forwards in the league, carrying the attack for his new club week after week.​

Onuachu earned his dream move to the Premier League in the winter of 2023, when Southampton paid 18 million euros to sign him from KRC Genk. Things never truly clicked in England, though, as he managed only four goals in 40 appearances and struggled to impose himself in a struggling team.​

After a loan spell at Trabzonspor, he briefly returned to Southampton before sealing a permanent transfer back to Turkey last summer. The change of environment has done him good: at 31, he has rediscovered his confidence, rhythm, and killer touch in front of goal, with no player currently outscoring him in the Süper Lig.

Onuachu is under contract until mid-2028, with an option for an extra year, giving Trabzonspor a proven scorer to build around for the long term.
