Nigerian forward Muhamed Tijani has joined Plymouth Argyle on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, with an option for a permanent transfer.
Tijani, who has been compared to Didier Drogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is a tall and athletic striker known for his ability to score goals and hold up the ball.
Plymouth’s manager, Wayne Rooney, is excited to work with Tijani and believes he will bring a new dimension to the team’s attack.
Tijani’s addition is seen as a significant boost to Plymouth Argyle’s squad, and he is expected to make an immediate impact.
His transfer is also seen as a coup for the club, as they beat off competition from several Europa League teams to secure his signature.
The Nigerian former U20 international moved to Czech aged 18 to join the youth system of another of the country’s leading sides, Banik Ostrava.
Muhamed had loan spells with Třinec, Karvina, and Taborsko, the latter of whom he scored 13 goals in 33 games for in the 2021-22 season, in the Czech second tier.
Tijani broke into the Ostrava first team in 2022-23, playing 25 times as they finished 11th in the top flight.
He moved to Slavia Prague for approximately £1m in the summer of 2023 and played 19 times, scoring four goals.
Two of those goals came in the UEFA Europa League, one a last-ditch winner away to FC Sheriff.
