Former Nigerian international Celestine Babayaro has backed Chelsea to pursue Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, believing both players could make an immediate impact at the Premier League club.
Osimhen, currently with Napoli, has been heavily linked with a move away from Italy, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal among the clubs reportedly interested in securing his services.
Meanwhile, Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, was previously on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar and could be available for around €60 million this summer.
Speaking to AfricaFoot, Babayaro expressed confidence that the Nigerian duo would be perfect additions to Chelsea’s squad. “Lookman and Osimhen would fit in perfectly at Chelsea.
They would have an immediate impact and are among the best strikers in Europe right now,” he said.
The former Chelsea left-back also highlighted the strong history of African players at Stamford Bridge, emphasizing that Osimhen and Lookman could follow in the footsteps of past stars who have thrived at the club.
“African players have always done well at Chelsea, and I believe these two would be no exception.
They have the quality to strengthen the squad and make it a title contender again,” Babayaro added.
With Chelsea expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, Babayaro even suggested a potential swap deal involving Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson as a way to facilitate a move.
Osimhen, 26, has been a key target for top European clubs following his impressive performances in Serie A, while Lookman’s form in Italy has also caught the attention of major teams across the continent.
As Chelsea looks to rebuild under Mauricio Pochettino, the possibility of bringing in two of Nigeria’s brightest talents could be an enticing prospect for the London club.
