Nigerian forward Gift Orban completes loan move to Turkish side Amedspor from Hoffenheim
Nigerian striker Gift Orban has sealed a season-long move to Turkish Super Lig outfit Amedspor, joining the club on loan from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim in a deal that includes an option which could become a permanent transfer.
The 22-year-old heads to Turkey looking to reignite his career after showing encouraging form during a loan spell in Italy last season, where he enjoyed a productive campaign with Hellas Verona.
Orban featured prominently for the Serie A side during the 2025/26 season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. His performances demonstrated his ability to adapt to a new league and attracted interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
Hoffenheim confirmed the loan agreement in an official statement, revealing that the deal could eventually become permanent depending on certain conditions.
“The loan agreement now concluded with the club Amed SFK from the city of Diyarbakir includes a subsequent purchase option, which can become an obligation to purchase under certain conditions.”
The move marks another chapter in Orban’s rapidly evolving European career.
The Nigerian attacker joined Hoffenheim from French club Lyon in January 2025 after establishing himself as one of the continent’s most promising young forwards. During his time in Germany, he made 13 Bundesliga appearances and scored four goals before being sent on loan to gain more regular first-team football.
His spell with Hellas Verona proved beneficial, as he rediscovered his goalscoring touch and became an important attacking option for the Italian club.
Amedspor have now moved to secure his services as they look to strengthen their attacking department ahead of the new Turkish Super Lig season. The club believes Orban’s pace, movement and clinical finishing can provide the firepower needed to compete at the highest level.
The Turkish side officially announced the signing on their social media platforms, greeting the Nigerian international with a simple but warm message.
“Welcome to Gift Orban.”
For Orban, the move represents another opportunity to continue his development while earning consistent playing time. With the possibility of the transfer becoming permanent if certain conditions are met, the striker now has the chance to establish himself as a key figure in Amedspor’s project.
As the new campaign approaches, both player and club will be hoping the partnership proves successful, with Orban aiming to build on his impressive numbers from last season and continue his rise as one of Nigeria’s exciting attacking talents in European football.
