Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis departs Nottingham Forest after mutual agreement
Emmanuel Dennis has left Nottingham Forest after the Premier League club confirmed his contract had been terminated by mutual consent.
Forest issued a brief statement thanking the Nigerian forward for his contribution and wishing him well in the next stage of his career.
Dennis joined Forest in 2022 from Watford for a fee reported to be around £20m but struggled to make a lasting impact at the City Ground.
His final appearance for the club came in the 2022-23 season against Crystal Palace, before he was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers.
That spell in the Championship offered little revival, with Dennis featuring only six times, failing to score, and providing a single assist.
The decision brings an early conclusion to what had been expected to be a key move for the 26-year-old.
Despite arriving with proven Premier League experience, he was unable to secure a consistent role under successive Forest managers.
Dennis, however, boasts a career filled with moments that highlight his potential.
At Watford, he became a standout performer in the 2021-22 campaign, netting 10 goals and supplying six assists in 33 league games, earning plaudits for his speed, pressing, and ability to unlock defences.
Prior to his spell in England, he had impressed in European competition with Club Bruges, scored goals in the Ukrainian Premier League with Zorya Luhansk, and gained further experience in the Bundesliga with FC Cologne.
For Nigeria, Dennis has earned international recognition, adding another dimension to a career that has shown flashes of brilliance but has often lacked consistency.
His departure from Nottingham Forest now represents an opportunity to reset and seek a platform where he can rediscover the form that once made him one of the Premier League’s more dangerous forwards.
While his time at Forest will be remembered as a chapter of unfulfilled promise, Dennis’s wider career suggests he still has much to offer.
The end of his contract signals not just a conclusion but the chance for a new beginning, with clubs across Europe and beyond likely to monitor his next move.
At Forest, his signing symbolised ambition during their return to the Premier League, but his inability to cement a place leaves the club and player parting ways earlier than expected.
For Dennis, the challenge now will be to revive the sharpness and consistency that once made him a highly sought-after striker.
