Nigerian international, Ademola Lookman scored a brace for Atalanta on Sunday evening, helping the side to secure an emphatic 5-0 victory against Empoli in the Italian Serie A.
Lookman who recently had a fallen out with his manager Gian Piero Gasperini started the game for his team and proved why he is an important player for the team.
On the matchday, Atalanta took the lead in the 27th minute when Emmanuel Gyasi inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Atalanta doubled their advantage six minutes later, with Mateo Retegui finding the back of the net after a clever knockdown from Berat Djimsiti.
Ademola Lookman made his mark just before halftime, latching onto a pass from Retegui before finishing confidently in a one-on-one situation. He struck again in the 55th minute, displaying brilliant individual skill before firing a precise shot into the bottom right corner, leaving Empoli goalkeeper Marco Silvestri with no chance.
Davide Zappacosta sealed the emphatic win in the 74th minute, slotting home from a well-worked move to cap off a flawless display from Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
After his two goals today, Lookman has now scored 10 goals and provided five assists after making 20 appearances in Serie A.
