Nigerian duo Awoniyi and Aina doubtful for Spurs clash, confirms Forest boss Nuno

Taiwo Awoniyi And Ola Aina

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has confirmed that Nigerian duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina are doubts for the club’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur due to ongoing fitness concerns.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Portuguese tactician revealed that the Nigerian duo have not yet resumed full training and will need further evaluation before any decision is made regarding their availability.

“We have to assess,” Nuno told the club’s official website. “They were not with the group and are still carrying some problems. It is going to be day by day.”

The absence of either player would be a significant blow for Forest, who are pushing for a place in European competition next season.

Awoniyi, a key presence up front, has been crucial in Forest’s attack, while Aina’s versatility in defence and midfield has made him a regular fixture in Nuno’s tactical plans.

With 57 points from 32 matches, Forest currently sit in fourth place on the Premier League table, two points adrift of third-placed Newcastle United.

A positive result in London would strengthen their grip on a European spot and keep pressure on the top three as the season nears its conclusion.
