Nigeria international, Zaidu Sanusi has made his long-awaited return from injury, marking the end of a 10-month absence from competitive football.
The 26-year-old was named in Porto’s squad for their Europa League clash against Anderlecht on Thursday night, signalling his comeback to action.
Sanusi’s injury layoff had kept him sidelined for nearly a year, but his inclusion in the 23-player list for the game against the Belgian side highlights his recovery and readiness to contribute again.
Porto, struggling in the new Europa League format with just four points from four matches, hoped to secure a vital victory against Anderlecht, a team on a strong unbeaten run in the competition. However, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Although Sanusi remained an unused substitute throughout the match, he is expected to make his return to the field soon. Porto will face Casa Pia over the weekend, and Sanusi could be in line to feature as they aim to improve their position in the league and Europa League standings.
