Nigerian club El Kanemi Warriors ambushed by armed robbers

Tragedy struck in the early hours of November 30, 2024, as El Kanemi Warriors FC faced a harrowing armed robbery along the Jos-Bauchi expressway.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side was en route to Maiduguri after a 0-2 defeat to Ikorodu City in Lagos during a matchday 14 encounter.

The attackers intercepted the team bus, robbing players and officials of cash, phones, and other valuables at around 2 am.

Some members of the team sustained injuries and were promptly taken to a nearby hospital in Bauchi for treatment.

This unfortunate incident has cast a shadow over the Warriors’ upcoming matchday 15 fixture against Bayelsa United, scheduled for Sunday, December 1, in Maiduguri.

Given the circumstances, the game may likely be postponed to allow the team time to recover from the traumatic event.
