Nigeria winger Hilary Gong leaves Spartak Trnava and becomes unattached

Nigeria winger Hilary Gong has left Spartak Trnava and is now without a club after completing his departure from the Slovak side on 14 September 2026.

The 27-year-old right winger ended his time with Spartak following a season in which he made three appearances across the Nike Liga and Uefa Conference League qualifying. Gong played 45 minutes in the Slovak top flight and featured twice in European qualifying, completing 85 minutes in those matches.

Gong joined Spartak Trnava from Polish club Widzew Lodz on 1 July 2025. His move to Slovakia followed a spell in Poland, where he had arrived from AS Trencin in July 2024.

The Zawan-born player has also represented clubs in the Netherlands, Norway and Armenia during his career. He joined Dutch side Vitesse from AS Trencin in 2018 before moving to Haugesund in 2022. Later that year, he spent time with Armenian club Ararat-Armenia on loan from GBS Academy.

Gong returned to GBS Academy at the end of that loan before joining AS Trencin in July 2023. He subsequently moved to Widzew Lodz for a reported €300,000 transfer fee in 2024.

A right-footed attacker, Gong stands 1.69m tall and operates primarily on the right wing. He made two appearances in the Conference League qualifying rounds during his final period with Spartak, as well as one league appearance in the 2026-27 campaign.

His departure brings an end to his 14-month spell with Spartak Trnava, who had signed him after his previous move to Widzew Lodz. Gong is now listed without a club following the completed separation from the Slovak side.
