**Vincent Enyeama announces retirement from international football**
The era of Vincent Enyeama with the Nigerian Super Eagles has come to an end. The veteran goalkeeper officially announced his retirement from international football on Thursday, just hours before Nigeria’s friendly against DR Congo in Belgium.
Enyeama’s decision follows a highly publicised fallout with coach Sunday Oliseh earlier this week. The Lille shot-stopper expressed his disappointment on social media after being excluded from the Super Eagles’ training camp for arriving late. Although the Nigerian Football Federation intervened to secure his reinstatement, Enyeama was stripped of the captaincy, which was handed over to Ahmed Musa.
“I fought the good fight for 13 years,” Enyeama wrote on his Instagram account. “I am no longer the captain of Nigeria, I will no longer be the captain. I am no longer available for matches, I am leaving the team.”
With 101 caps to his name, Enyeama departs as one of Nigeria’s most capped players and a key figure in the national team’s recent history.
His exit marks the end of an era for the Super Eagles as they look to rebuild ahead of upcoming international competitions.
