Nigeria to host CAF Ordinary General Assembly in November

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that Nigeria will host the next CAF Ordinary General Assembly in November.

Motsepe made the announcement during a press conference, where he revealed plans for the continental football body’s annual meeting to take place in the West African nation.

The CAF Ordinary General Assembly brings together representatives from all 54 member associations to discuss key issues affecting African football, including governance, competitions, development programmes, financial matters, and strategic plans for the future of the sport on the continent.

Nigeria, one of Africa’s football powerhouses, has a long history of contributing to the growth and development of the game. The country has produced some of the continent’s greatest players, achieved success at international level, and hosted several major CAF and FIFA competitions.

The decision to stage the assembly in Nigeria is expected to further strengthen the country’s relationship with CAF while providing an opportunity to showcase its football infrastructure and organisational capacity.

Motsepe has consistently emphasised the importance of unity among CAF’s member associations and the need for collaboration to improve African football. The CAF president is expected to use the gathering to engage with football leaders across the continent on ongoing reforms and future projects.

The November meeting will come at a crucial period as CAF continues efforts to expand competitions, improve governance standards, and increase investment in football development across Africa.
