NIGERIA: TAIWO PESSIMISTIC FOR HIS PARTICIPATION IN THE WORLD CUP

Tayo Taiwo 2114618b 300x187 1
Taye Taiwo, the Nigerian defender currently playing for Bursaspor in Turkey, is realistic about his chances of being selected for the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. Despite his extensive experience with the national team, including participating in the 2010 World Cup, Taiwo acknowledges that it will be challenging for him to earn a spot in the squad.

Having not represented Nigeria for over two years, Taiwo understands that he is not a priority for coach Stephen Keshi. He recognizes that his absence from the team coincided with Nigeria’s success in winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, further diminishing his chances of being called up.

With 54 caps for the Super Eagles, Taiwo remains grateful for his past opportunities but is pragmatic about his current situation. While he may harbor hopes of representing his country again, he admits that the odds are stacked against him for the upcoming World Cup.
