Nigeria striker Akor Adams thrilled with dream Venezia debut after Coppa Italia heroics

Akor Adams has expressed his delight after making an immediate impact on his Venezia debut, scoring twice and providing an assist in the club’s thrilling 3-2 Coppa Italia victory over Modena.

The Nigeria international played a starring role in the Round of 64 clash, helping the Winged Lions overcome a difficult start and secure progression to the next round.

Adams was particularly pleased that his goals helped Venezia turn the game in their favour, insisting the result was the most important outcome from his first appearance.

“I am happy to be here and to represent this club. It was a difficult start, even though we were in control of the game, but my goals then helped us secure the victory, which is what matters,” Adams told the club’s official website.

Adams embraces Venezia challenge

The forward’s impressive debut has given him an early glimpse of what he can contribute to his new club, while also strengthening his belief in Venezia’s project.

Adams said he was convinced about the club’s ambitions after discussions with sporting director Antonelli and believes the team has the ingredients to enjoy a successful campaign.

“We have a great deal to offer, and I am sure this will be a season we can enjoy. After speaking with sporting director Antonelli, I understood the importance of this project.”

He also praised coach Giovanni Stroppa and his new teammates, while expressing confidence that he can quickly adapt to the demands of his new manager.

“We can build something great here, and we have an excellent coach and excellent teammates. Coach Stroppa always pushes us to do more.”

Nigerian determined to make his mark

Adams also revealed his excitement at experiencing the atmosphere at the Penzo, describing the stadium and the supporters as unique.

“The Penzo is a stadium unlike any other in the world. I was very impressed by the supporters and also by the unique way you arrive here.”

With his debut already producing two goals and an assist, Adams has made a strong early statement about his ambitions at Venezia.

“I want to be a focal point for the team and always look to score.”
