Victor Osimhen marked a landmark moment in his career with his 200th senior goal as Galatasaray delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over Kayserispor to tighten their grip on the Süper Lig summit.
Playing in front of a raucous Rams Park crowd on Sunday, the Nigerian striker was central to a performance that underlined both his individual class and Galatasaray’s growing authority in the title race.
The hosts wasted little time asserting control. Within seven minutes, sustained early pressure forced Kayserispor into a costly mistake, as defender Aaron Opoku inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to deal with a dangerous delivery into the box.
The early breakthrough settled Galatasaray and allowed them to dictate the tempo with confidence and precision.
Osimhen’s milestone moment arrived midway through the first half. After Galatasaray were awarded a penalty, the striker stepped up with trademark composure, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to double the advantage in the 25th minute.
The goal carried historic significance, taking Osimhen to 200 career strikes, split between 165 goals at club level and 35 for Nigeria, a testament to his consistency at the highest level.
Galatasaray continued to probe after the interval, controlling possession and stretching a Kayserispor side that struggled to cope with their movement and intensity.
Osimhen again played a decisive role, turning provider with a perfectly weighted pass that allowed Gabriel Sara to finish clinically and effectively put the contest beyond doubt.
By that point, the outcome was no longer in question, and Osimhen’s work for the evening was complete when he was withdrawn in the 82nd minute to a standing ovation. Mauro Icardi then added further gloss to the scoreline, converting a late penalty to cap a dominant display from the Istanbul giants.
The result keeps Galatasaray firmly on top of the Süper Lig standings with 49 points, extending their lead to six over nearest challengers Fenerbahce.
