Nigeria star Kelechi Iheanacho suffers fresh injury setback in Celtic’s defeat against St Mirren
Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has been dealt another blow in his injury-plagued campaign, with a fresh injury setback expected to keep him out of action.
The former Manchester City star, who recently returned to action for Scottish giants Celtic, has suffered another major setback. Iheanacho picked up a fresh hamstring injury during the League Cup final on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was initially sidelined up two months after succumbing to an injury in a UEFA Europa League clash against Sturm Graz, where he lasted just four minutes.
After several weeks on the sidelines, the enterprising winger made his return last Thursday, featuring in the sides 3-0 defeat to AS Roma in the Europa League.
Iheanacho started against St Mirren in the League Cup final and looked sharp early on, forcing goalkeeper Shamal George into a fine save.
But in the 33rd minute he pulled up, clutched his hamstring and was replaced in the highly competitive clash. He is expected to undergo the scans on Monday to determine the extent of his injury.
