Nigeria international Ademola Lookman could face a disciplinary action from Atalanta for boycotting training.
Lookman, who recently handed in a transfer requested in an attempt to leave to depart the club this summer to Inter Milan has botched to train with the Italian outfit in the past two days.
Currently, the standoff between Lookman and Atalanta is entering a new phase of escalation, as the club now holds the right to sanction the Nigerian forward for his apparent act of sabotage.
Having missed training for two consecutive times without any valid justification, the talented attacker now face a possible sanction from the club.
Lookman is currently recovering from injury, but the club expect him to show up at their facilities to follow an individual program. Now, under the current Italian players’ collective agreement, the Bergamo side is entitled to suspend his salary payments.
Inter, who have already agreed personal terms with Lookman on a contract until 2030 worth €4.5 million net per year, has set a 10 days deadline to finalize a move for the Nigeria attacker.
Meanwhile, Lookman previously removed all references to Atalanta from his social media accounts.
The 27-year-old Lookman made 40 appearances for Atalanta during the 2024/25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists.
Lookman joined the club in August 2022 and has since established himself as a key member of the team, playing an instrumental role in the club’s UEFA Europa League success in the 2023/24 season.
