Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has reached a significant milestone of his football career after netting on his Atletico Madrid debut.
Lookman, who joined the Spanish giants on transfer deadline day from Atalanta made an immediate impact, scoring and registering assist, as the Rojiblancos cruised to an emphatic victory over Real Betis on Thursday night.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year holder produced a moment of brilliance in the 37th minute, dribbling past two defenders before calmly firing the ball into the net, as Atletico Madrid thumped Real Betis 5-0 to advance to the semi-final of the Copa del Rey. It was his 100th career goals for club and country.
The 28-year-old Nigeria star has scored for seven different clubs to date, scoring most his goals for Italian outfit Atalanta.
At the international level, Lookman has made 41 appearances since his debut for the Super Eagles in 2022, racking up 11 goals across the period.
Having made an impressive start to life at Atletico Madrid, the enterprising winger will be hoping to make a meaningful impact at the club.
Lookman penned a four-year deal with the Spanish giants, keeping him at Atletico Madrid until summer 2030.
