Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi has resolved the issue preventing him from representing Nigeria, and he is now eligible to play for the Super Eagles. Ameobi was previously hindered by a clause in his club contract, but he has found a solution to the problem, making him available for the national team. Nigeria’s coach, Stephen Keshi, expressed his satisfaction with this development, especially as the team prepares for important matches.
Keshi stated, “As we start to name the squad to face Malawi, having someone like Ameobi available is great news for us. It is great to have all these players available for our important matches as it will help us in our quest for the World Cup ticket.”
At the age of 31, Shola Ameobi has only played one friendly match with the Super Eagles, contributing an assist in the team’s victory against Venezuela in November 2012.
