Six key players withdraw from Super Eagles squad ahead of Russia friendly

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face off with Colombia in an international friendly match in November.

The game comes just four days after Nigeria’s scheduled clash with Venezuela at the Shell Energy Stadium in Houston on Friday, November 14.

Colombia, meanwhile, will face New Zealand in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, November 15, before locking horns with the Super Eagles.

Head coach Eric Chelle is using the high-profile friendlies as part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco this December.

Before the international friendly match against Colombia, Nigeria will be in action in October with the Super Eagles set to meet Lesotho’s Crocodiles and the Squirrels of Benin Republic.

The two matches will mark the end of the group phase of Nigeria’s campaign in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
