Salisu Yusuf, who was suspended for a year for accepting money to select players, has now completed his ban and is cleared to return to coaching. The former national team coach of Nigeria was implicated in an investigative report by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which exposed unethical practices in African football. The report revealed that Yusuf accepted payments to favor two players for the 2018 CHAN tournament.
Following the investigation, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Ethics Committee handed him a one-year suspension and a $5,000 fine. Having served his sentence since last September, Yusuf is now back in the coaching ranks.
Rangers International announced on Wednesday that Salisu Yusuf has been appointed as the club’s new coach. The Enugu-based side benefits from his expertise through a secondment by the NFF. His return comes at a pivotal moment, as Rangers are competing in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
