Stephen Keshi, the coach of Nigeria, expressed his satisfaction after his team’s victory over Mali, securing a place in the final of the 2013 CAN. Despite facing criticism for some of his tactical decisions and choices, Keshi believed in his team and emphasized the importance of building a strong mentality and teamwork.
He acknowledged that there were challenges and criticism, especially regarding his decision to omit certain big players. Keshi dedicated the success to God and the people of Nigeria, aiming to bring joy to the nation. He drew a comparison with the 1994 team, stating that while that team took five years to build, the current team is only five weeks old, and they are still growing.
Regarding the issue of coaches, Keshi clarified that he is not against white coaches and acknowledged their greatness. However, he stressed the importance of having a coach who can truly help African players. Keshi clarified that he never said he was against white coaches but expressed that he might not have the qualifications to coach in Europe according to their standards.
