Nigeria held by Madagascar at half-time in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier

Nigeria and Madagascar are level at 1-1 at half-time in the opening round of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The first half at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium was closely contested, with Madagascar taking a surprise lead in the 16th minute. Kari finished the move after being picked out by Ponti to put the Barea ahead.

The Super Eagles were second best for much of the opening period, but pressure from the home crowd helped Nigeria respond. They drew level in first-half stoppage time, with George Ilenikhena converting Alex Iwobi’s assist in the 45+1st minute.
