Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, is set to kick off its preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on January 2, 2024. The team is gearing up for a challenging tournament with an intensive training camp.

The selected squad is slated to assemble at the training base on January 1, marking the beginning of their rigorous training regime.

Under the guidance of head coach José Peseiro, the Super Eagles are scheduled to participate in a tri-nation tournament hosted in the UAE as part of their preparations for the upcoming championship.

This pre-tournament event will witness the participation of Nigeria alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burkina Faso, presenting an early test and an opportunity for fine-tuning strategies ahead of the prestigious competition.

In the lead-up to the tournament, Peseiro is expected to unveil his preliminary selection of 55 players to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) later this week.

The final squad composition, comprising the confirmed players set to represent Nigeria, is mandated to be submitted to CAF before January 7, 2024.

The Super Eagles find themselves placed in Group A alongside formidable opponents, including the host nation, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.

The tournament’s group stage promises intense clashes and high-stakes encounters as each team vies for a coveted spot in the latter stages of the competition.

With Nigeria’s training camp set in Abu Dhabi, the squad aims to optimize their preparations, focusing on team cohesion, fitness, and tactical prowess.

The journey toward the Africa Cup of Nations is poised to be an arduous yet thrilling one, as the Super Eagles strive to clinch glory in one of Africa’s most prestigious football tournaments.
